1) Tìm khoảng cách giữa hai đường thẳng $B_1C$ và $AC_1$ theo $a,b$.
2) Cho $a,b$ thay đổi và thỏa mãn $a+b=4$. Tìm $a,b $ để khoảng cách ở câu 1 là lớn nhất.
1)Ta có ngay $A_1=(a;0;b); C_1=(0;1;b)$.
Từ đó suy ra $\overrightarrow{B_1C}=(a;1;-b); \overrightarrow{AC_1}=(-a;1;b);\overrightarrow{CC_1}=(0;0;b)$

theo công thức khoảng cách ta có:
$d(B_1C,AC_1)=\frac{| [\overrightarrow{B_1C},\overrightarrow{AC_1}].\overrightarrow{CC_1}|}{ [\overrightarrow{B_1C},\overrightarrow{AC_1}]}=\frac{2ab}{2\sqrt{a^2+b^2}}=\frac{ab}{\sqrt{a^2+b^2}}$.
2)Theo bất đẳng thức Côsi ta có:
$d(B_1C,AC_1)=\frac{ab}{\sqrt{a^2+b^2}}\leq \frac{ab}{\sqrt{2ab}}=\frac{\sqrt{ab}}{\sqrt{2}}\leq \frac{1}{\sqrt{2}}.\frac{a+b}{2}=\sqrt{2}$ (do $a+b=4$)
Từ đó $\max d(B_1A,AC_1)=\sqrt{2}. Dấu = xảy  ra  \Leftrightarrow a=b=2$.
