Xét L1 = Lim [( m/ 1- x^m ) - ( 1/ 1- x )] 
x->1 
Giới hạn L1 có dạng ( vô cùng - vô cùng ) nên ta đưa nó về dạng 0/0. 

Ta có: 

L1 = Lim [m- (1+ x + x^2 + .....+ x^(m-1))] / [ 1- x^m ] 
x->1 
= Lim [ (1-x) + (1-x^2) +...... + (1 - x^(m-1)] / [ 1- x^m ] 
x->1 
= Lim (x->1) của [(1-x)[1+(1+x)+...+(1+x+x^2+...+x^(m-2))... trên 

[(1-x)[1+(1+x+x^2+...+x^(m-1))] 

= [ 1 + x + x^2+.....+(m-1) ] / m 

= m(m-1) / 2m = (m-1) / 2 (2) 

Tương tự ta có : 

L2 = ( m-1 ) / 2 ( 3 ) 

Thay (2) và (3) vào ( 1) 

L= L1 - L2 = [(n-1) / 2] / [( m-1 ) / 2] = (m-n) / 2
