Cho  $\Delta ABC$ có độ dài các cạnh là  $a, b, c$  và bán kính đường tròn ngoại tiếp là  $R$. Chứng minh rằng:
$\cot A+\cot B+\cot C=\frac{(a^2+b^2+c^2)R}{abc} $.
Áp dụng định lý cosin vào  $\Delta ABC$, ta có:  $\cos A=\frac{b^2+c^2-a^2}{2bc} $
Áp dụng định lý hàm sin, ta có:  $\frac{a}{\sin A}=2R  \Rightarrow    \sin A=\frac{a}{2R} $
Do đó:  $\cot A=\frac{\cos A}{\sin A}=\frac{b^2+c^2-a^2}{2bc}.\frac{2R}{a}=\frac{R(b^2+c^2-a^2)}{2bca}    $
Tương tự  $\cot B=\frac{R(a^2+c^2-b^2)}{abc};  \cot C=\frac{R(a^2+b^2-c^2)}{abc}  $
Suy ra:  $\cot A+\cot B+\cot C=\frac{R}{abc}[b^2+c^2-a^2+a^2+c^2-b^2+a^2+b^2-c^2]$
                                                           $=\frac{a^2+b^2+c^2}{abc}.R  $.
